Humphrey DeForest Bogart (December 25, 1899 – January 14, 1957) was an American actor whose career spanned thirty-five years. He appeared in over seventy films.
He was born in New York City, New York, to Maud Humphrey, a famed magazine illustrator and suffragette, and Belmont DeForest Bogart, a moderately wealthy surgeon (who was secretly addicted to opium).
