Mark Twain was a pen name. His real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835 – April 21, 1910). He was an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer.
Born in Missouri in 1835, he grew up in Hannibal. He was a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi River.
