Sumatran tigers are the smallest tiger subspecies, and have striped forelegs (unlike siberian/bengal tiger). Males average 8 feet (2.4 meters) in length from head to tail and weigh about 260 pounds (120 kilograms). Females are closer to 7 feet (2 m) in length and weight about 200 pounds (90 kilograms).

In comparison, the largest species of tiger, siberian tiger can be 10 - 12 feet and weigh up to 675 lbs.

This was taken by Mehgan Murphy and released to the public by the Smithsonian National Museaum in 2009.
